Wilderness First Aid is a comprehensive series of lessons in how to react and respond in remote, life threatening situations. Lots of active hands-on work in classroom and high-energy outdoor scenarios keep it fun!

You should be familiar with the material in the First Aid Merit Badge pamphlet. ARC Basic First Aid training or equivalent is strongly suggested but not a requirement. Note that you should be familiar with CPR before attending this class, but it will not be covered
The WFA certification is required for the BSA High Adventure bases; the Advanced Certification is above and beyond. If not a medical professional, you should take Basic Wilderness First Aid before taking the Advanced class, but this is not a requirement and you need not be current in your certification.
After the successes of 2007 and 2008, this program is expanding to include an Advanced WFA class in February (6-8th ) that will also serve as a basis for an Instructor Staff. Instructor candidates will be drawn from practicing medical professionals in the class that have experience with patient care (ie EMT Firefighters, paramedics, RNs, military medics) and be asked to assist in presenting the WFA classes for High Adventure Crew Advisors.
